Puttaparthi, May 12, 2025 – In a significant step towards enhancing cardiac care and digital healthcare infrastructure, the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences (SSSIHMS), Prasanthigram, inaugurated two advanced echocardiography machines and a modern data centre on Monday, May 12. The developments were made possible through the divine grace of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba.
The inauguration ceremony was led by Mr. RJ Rathnakar, Managing Trustee of the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust (SSSCT), and attended by Dr. Gurumurthy (Director, SSSIHMS-PG), Dr. V.R. Iyer (Head, Department of Cardiology), Mr. Sundar Swaminathan (Director, SSSMC), and other senior officials.
The new GE-manufactured echocardiography machines, worth ₹3.8 crore, come equipped with 4D Transesophageal (TEE) and Transthoracic Echocardiogram (TTE) probes, specifically suitable for paediatric cardiology. They also feature an advanced calculation package for chamber-wise heart analysis, offering high-resolution imaging to support precise diagnostic and surgical planning.
Parallelly, the inauguration of the centralised data centre marks a digital transformation in the Trust’s healthcare system. Designed in collaboration with the SSSMC team, the facility integrates Cisco Layer 3 switches, high-performance fault-tolerant servers, secure FC-SAN storage, and a robust firewall. It will host the ATHMA hospital information system via a secure VPN, centralising medical data from all Sai hospitals under one secure hub.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Rathnakar affirmed the Trust’s commitment to integrating cutting-edge technology in all Sai medical institutions. “These new additions symbolize our ongoing efforts to ensure that Bhagawan Baba’s vision of compassionate, high-quality healthcare remains a reality,” he stated.
The dual inauguration marks a pivotal milestone in reinforcing patient care and operational efficiency at SSSIHMS, Puttaparthi.
