Hyderabad, 20 April 2025 – The second annual conference of the Association of Robotic Innovative Surgeons (ARIS), held in collaboration with CRSA India, turned Ramoji Film City into a hub of surgical innovation, global expertise, and academic celebration.
One of the highlights of the event was the keynote address on the Evolution of Robotic Abdominal Wall Reconstruction, delivered by a leading expert in the field. The insightful session offered attendees a comprehensive overview of technological advancements and surgical precision in robotic abdominal wall repair, drawing attention to how robotic surgery continues to redefine clinical outcomes in hernia and reconstructive procedures.
As part of the academic sessions, a detailed lecture on Robotic eTEP (enhanced-view totally extraperitoneal technique) for recurrent incisional hernias was also presented, sharing valuable clinical perspectives and surgical strategies with the attending faculty and delegates.

The conference was also a significant occasion for FARIS (Fellowship in Advanced Robotic and Innovative Surgery) candidates, as over 120 fellows were conferred their fellowship degrees in a grand convocation ceremony after completing a one-year intensive training. Viva examinations for these fellows, alongside the Executive Committee meeting and General Body Meeting, kept the academic schedule both productive and demanding.
A memorable moment of the event was the meeting with Prof. EF Elli from Mayo Clinic, Florida — a pioneer in robotic bariatric surgery and mentor to many, including the keynote speaker. Prof. Elli, who previously headed the Division of Bariatric Surgery at UIC Chicago, brought global insights and nostalgia to the gathering.
Also gracing the occasion were Prof. Rowan Parks, President of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, and Dr. Selvasekar, consultant surgeon from the Christie Foundation, UK, who contributed to enriching interactions and academic exchanges.
Collaborating with Prof. Subhash Khanna, Dr. Somashekhar SP, and Dr. Raj Palaniappan added immense value to the event. Their passion and leadership played a crucial role in shaping this grand academic extravaganza into a meaningful success.
The conference brought together renowned surgeons, fellows, and mentors from across the country, creating a platform for knowledge exchange, fellowship, and recognition of excellence in robotic surgery. The vibrant energy and collective commitment to advancing surgical education made this event one to remember.
